Finca Tierra Negra

Finca Tierra Negra

Owned by the Dominican lawyer, social researcher, and agroforestry consultant Altair Rodriguez, Finca Tierra Negra is a regenerative agriculture project located in the heart of the Cibao Valley. It is the only remnant of old cocoa forests that predominated in the area (since the 1980’s hundreds of hectares of cocoa agroforestry systems that were eliminated and replaced by monocultures of cassava and banana.)

Since 2015, the project seeks to transform the original farm (with more than 100 years in the hands of the Rodríguez family) into a model project that contributes to overcoming conventional agriculture and to demonstrate the economic, ecological and social viability of agriculture, in particular regenerative agroforestry.
